गीदड़ की बात सुनकर लम्बकर्ण ने गीदड़ के साथ चलने का निश्चय कर लिया । गीदड़ के पीछे-पीछे चलता हुआ वहु उसी वनप्रदेश में आ पहुँचा जहाँ कई दिनों का भूखा शेर भोजन की प्रतीक्षा मैं बैठा था । शेर के उठते ही लम्बकर्ण ने भागना शुरु कर दिया । उसके भागते-भागते भी शेर ने पंजा लगा दिया । लेकिन लम्बकर्ण शेर के पंजे में नहीं फँसा, भाग ही गया ।
